Unity Club Intwararumuri is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary this year

Unity Club Intwararumuri, an organization that brings together current and former cabinet members and their spouses, whose chairperson her Excellency Jeannette KAGAME is on its front line, is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary this year. This silver jubilee which will be coincide with the 14th annual Forum of Unity Club Intwararumuri, will be celebrated under the theme, Ndi Umunyarwanda Agaciro Kacu”, loosely translated asNdi Umunyarwanda our dignity.

In alignment with celebrating the its 25th anniversary, Unity Club Intwararumuri has put in place a series of diversified activities which started from  April 2021 and will close in October 2021 on the day of the 14th annual forum of Unity Club Intwararumuri. Those activities were prepared  in accordance with the plans of Unity Club in this year as well as its usual activities. 

Unity Club Intwararumuri was created in February 1996, with the aim of “planting the culture of unity and peace which is the foundation of sustainable development.” It is composed of the former and current government members and their spouses, and aims at contributing support in building the unity among Rwandans. The chairperson of Unity Club who initially gave it its foundation is her Excellency Jeannette KAGAME the spouse of President of the Republic of Rwanda.

Over these last 25 years, Unity Club Intwararumuri achieved a lot, most importantly, related to its goal of taking the leading part in repairing unity among Rwandans after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, by starting with our central government leaders as a good example to the others.

Over the last 25 years, Unity Club Intwararumuri perpetually implemented  its goal of being the light to Rwandans Intwararumuri/ Light bearer by giving its contribution to planting unity and good atmosphere among leaders and Rwandan families in general, rebuilding Rwandan sprit via talks and teachings given in different parts of the country through Ndi Umunyarwanda, through awarding those who have been role models in planting unity by offering prizes to Abarinzi b’Igihango ( The guardians of Covenant) and through taking care of orphans and the widowed; especially, the elderly widows who lost their families during the Genocide against Tutsi, named Intwaza.

Together with its partners, Unity Club Intwararumuri has built houses in different parts of the country including the houses known as Impinganzima, they were built in the districts of  Huye and Rusizi whereby the elders widowed by the Genocide against Tutsi in 1994 were given to live, , and 20 houses built in Rubavu district for orphans from former Nyundo Noël Orphanage under the policy of growing children in families, and the club has also implemented a corporate development project in Nyamagabe district, in Cyanika Sector where it has built; the Genocide Memorial site, renewed Schools, and built a Community center called “ ISANO ISHAMITSE UBUKIRE’’. These are some of the most prominent achievements of Unity Club.

In line with planting and maintaining the culture of unity and peace as the pillars of sustainable development in Rwanda, Unity Club Intwararumuri figure out that it is worth that its members, partners, and beneficiaries take time to celebrate this 25th anniversary with Rwandans in general and share this experience with people from foreign countries because it may help them in case they bump into problems.
