Ndi Umunyarwanda: Dr Habumuremyi Regrets His Inaction During The Genocide

Rwandan Prime Minister Pierre Damien Habumuremyi regrets having done nothing to save the Tutsi in 1994, when he was not in the sights of the genocidaires.

Doctor Pierre Damien Habumuremyi made this indication during the one-day retreat which brought together the officials of the Prime Minister's Office on the theme "Ndi Umunyarwanda" [rwandity].

In his speech, he reaffirmed that the "Ndi Umunyarwanda" program aims to build a nation based on trust, telling the truth and condemning the ethnic divisionism at the root of the genocide.

"Some critics accuse the Rwandan Prime Minister and his group of having introduced the theme 'Ndi Umunyarwanda' into the program of government activities to defend their own interests. Unfortunately, this is not the case. one, to defend its interests, for the benefit of the reconciliation of Rwandans, it is by no means not a crime ", retorts the Prime Minister.

Even if he played no role in the genocide of the Tutsi in Rwanda in 1994, the Prime Minister regrets that he did nothing to save the Tutsi who were being hunted when his life was not in danger.

During this retreat, two communications were given on the role of the colonizer in raising awareness of divisionism. They were followed by various testimonies from officials of the prime minister's office.

This debate on the theme "Ndi Umunyarwanda" organized by the prime minister was preceded by others which took place in other institutions and public establishments in the country.
