Food For New Village Project Started Water Supply Activities In Cyanika Sector

Unity Club, through Food for New Village Project, a project it advocated for Cyanika community, started the activities of providing clean water to Cyanika community in Birambo and Munyinya villages of Karama cell in Cyanika Sector at Nyamagabe District.

Before this activity, the population of these cells was using water from the surrounding wetlands, a water source that was not safe for the good health of the population. This activity will help people access safe and clean water to Cyanika community.
According to Miss Niyonsaba Dative, a young lady of Birambo cell working on site, this water will help them decreasing waterborne diseases that could result in using water from unsafe surrounding wells.

She said she is not only satisfied with the access to safe water, but also she mentioned this activity has provided with them a job to find small cash to satisfy their needs. She noted this water will also help some cow raisers to find clean water for their cows at a short distance.

This activity has employed more than 150 people, all of them from the two cells to make them get some money for satisfying their needs while they contribute in the development of their cells. All workers of this activity contribute a day a week following the Saemoul Undong spirit in order to make these people own this activity. Eng. Claude Pasteur, the supervisor of this activity told Unity Club reporter this activity will take not more than 30 days to provide clean tap water to the beneficiaries.
