First Lady Jeannette Kagame has tipped members of Unity Club on the importance of a clear transgenerational ideology in building a strong, sovereign nation that takes care of her citizens.
Her Excellency Jeannette Kagame made the remarks on Saturday, October 16 during the 14th annual forum of Unity Club which was combined with the 25th anniversary of the club’s establishment.
“Building a strong nation that takes care of citizens and has sovereignty requires having a clear transgenerational ideology,” Madam Jeannette Kagame told the Unity Club members.
She pointed out that what has been achieved should not be a reason for complacency, but rather a motivation to do even more.
“To celebrate the anniversary is to build upon what we have attained so that those who come after us will have good lessons and a strong starting point,” She highlighted.
During the 14th Annual forum, Unity Club launched the research conducted on “The impact of the Genocide against the Tutsi on the most affected youth: Analysis of youth’s peculiar post-genocide problems and emerging solutions.
Dr. Théogčne Bangwanubusa, one of the members of Unity Club, who followed the study, said that there is hope among the Rwandan youth as they have a dream of a better future for the country.
"In the various conversations and testimonies that the youth shared, you hear the youth from all over the country repeat the same motto of preserving what Rwanda has achieved and striving for equal rights to all Rwandans.”, Dr. Théogčne said.
The 14th forum of Unity Club also hosted a panel discussion on "Ndi Umunyarwanda: the foundation of our national identity", which involved Amb. Joseph Nsengimana, Geraldine Umutesi, Lambert Bariho, Dr. Théogčne Bangwanubusa and was chaired by Cléophas Barore.
