H.E. President Paul Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame joined Unity Club’s 25th Anniversary Celebration

H.E. President Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame, the Chairperson of Unity Club, attended Unity Club’s 25th Anniversary celebration held on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Intare Conference Arena.

The event also marked the end of the 14th annual forum which was held under the theme “Ndi Umunyarwanda – Agaciro Kacu”, loosely translated as “I am Rwandan – our dignity”.

In his speech, during the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the club’s establishment, H.E. President Kagame stated that: “We are fighting a war; in it, we have fought hundreds if not thousands of bullets. We have not won the war; we have just won the battles. Winning the war means that at some point you have settled down because you have reached what you have determined as the end goal. It means that we have fought many battles, we have won many of them, but the war is not yet over.” H.E. President Kagame said.

H.E. President Kagame added, “The war will end when we will have achieved our desired goal. In fact, that is the goal, unity, prosperity, stability, a secure country. A developed country, a united nation.”

Created in February 1996, Unity Club Intwararumuri is an organization that brings together current and former Rwandan cabinet members and their spouses to network and collaborate to address community issues and participate in Rwanda’s development.

Over the last 25 years, Unity Club has implemented a variety of projects and initiatives aiming at building unity amongst Rwandans, caring about orphans and the widowed, especially, the elderly widows who lost their families during the Genocide against Tutsi, named Intwaza.

During this event, the organization awarded seven “Abarinzi b’Igihango” (Guardians of the Covenant) who have played and continue to play leading roles in the unity and reconciliation of Rwandans.
